Welcome to the Art Zone, A hands-on Studio Art Class at OLLI, a program under the auspices of Duke University's Continuing Studies
Instructor, PAT HILL
Courses offer expanded exploration of modern techniques of painting. We experiment with all sorts of materials which are readily found in our everyday world to create amazing abstract paintings. As always, no art experience is required. This is always a relaxing adventure into the world of art.
“The ART ZONE” refers to that wonderful right-brain oriented experience of making art. Artists are notorious right-brain thinkers, so...enter “the Zone!”

COLLAGE CRAFTING : Collage will be our medium. The use of discarded items of our modern culture: every little scrap of recyclable material can become part of a work of art. In this course, learn to “repurpose” your old photos, memorabilia, books, letters, postcards, fabrics, toys, and other flotsam and jetsam of everyday life. By working in the classroom studio and on your own at home, you will develop an “artist’s eye” for all things in your life. You will be amazed and pleased with your own creative expression and your new way at looking at the world, no matter what your previous experience with art has been.
This course is fun and relaxing. The classroom studio experience is lively and encourages open discussion and the sharing of ideas.
